Mosquito nets for Easter

posted 27 May 2015, 16:55 by Letthe Needysmile
Thanks to the staff and students at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Melbourne, our Easter fundraising campaign raised almost $300 and was enough to purchase 22 long-lasting insecticide treated bednets. An additional effort by the local supporters in Tororo brought the total to 30 new bednets which were distributed to our most needy orphans at Easter time.
March-May is the wet season in Eastern Uganda and the incidence of malaria in young children is alarmingly high during these months. Sleeping under a bednet is a simple way to minimise this risk and with the help of donors we hope to roll out more mosquito nets in coming years to provide this benefit to all the ~300 orphans in the program.
